I am Verna Vuoripuro, a 22-year-old media professional packed with curiosity, ambition, initiative and focus. I currently work full-time as a sub-editor for the largest daily in the Nordic region, Helsingin Sanomat. During my slack time I’m completing my master’s studies in Corporate Communication at the Aalto University School of Business.
Last year I lived in New York City working with marketing and communications. I also had the opportunity to create a book for Hello Ruby, the world’s most whimsical way to learn about technology and coding. The book will be published this year – you can check out my TEDx Talk on the project here.
For as long as I can remember, I have had the passion to be a journalist. I started working determinedly towards that goal when I was 15. During the past 7 years I have worked as a freelance music journalist, a summertime news journalist and as the editor-in-chief of Kylteri, a student magazine for Aalto BIZ students. The range of subjects I have covered varies from politics to lifestyle.
However, I still always feel the need to broaden my knowledge and to keep my mind and options open, which is why I decided to study business. In Aalto I have gained a better understanding of economics and communications.
Due to my journalistic background I have a sense of what people are interested in and how they want their stories served. I like my life fast-paced, organized and full of devotion.
